San Diego or BUST!

We leave for San Diego in just over 3 days. It couldn't come soon enough! Was it just me, or was today the longest day ever? Maybe I am just excited to get my vacation under way. We are all excited. Bailey has a count-down calendar posted and everyone already has their backpacks packed. We are ready to go. Too bad we aren't leaving til Monday. Oh well...it will come soon enough! I guess I do have a few things to get done between now and then...like color my hair. (Gotta get those grey ones covered up!) At least I have Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives to look forward to again. That will kill some time too!

Family Pictures

We went last night and had some family pictures done. A girl I work with and her husband took them for us. I think they did a GREAT job. They were very patient with our little family. I'll post some of the funny ones too. Luke looks like it was painful to sit still for that amount of time. Alex kept putting his "fangs" out and smiling with his tongue where his 2 front teeth were. Bailey was so good...she just posed and patiently waited for her brothers. We had a good time. We finished off the night with sundae's at Artic Circle. It was a fun night.

Bailey Bake Sale= Big money!!

For months now, Bailey has been asking to have a Bake Sale to make some pocket money for our trip to San Diego at the end of this month. I have been putting it off and putting it off, until I looked at the calendar and realized it's today or it's not going to happen before we leave. (Can't believe how the time gets away from me!) Anywho.. after great help from Nanny and Papa (Nan made some cute star shaped cakes that we frosted white and brown, and Papa building this cute stand) we pulled the sale together. I was up til midnight last night making homemade Hot Fudge and Hot Caramel toppings. They turned out great. She also sold some mint brownies and Aunt Sharon's famous filled sugar cookies. Everything turned out great! Bailey made some good money and we still have a few orders for the toppings. I was going to get some picutres outside with everything set up, but we got some rain and had to call it quits a bit earlier than expected. She had a good turn out and is a great salesperson. (She would have sold her brothers if she could have gotten away with it!) Glad its over, but it was a great experience for her. I am exhausted..so we are off to Cafe Rio for dinner!!

Why we love Guitar Hero

1. Great Concentration
2. Great Hand-Eye Coordination (Bailey is the Queen of Guitar Hero)
3. Pure QUIET time on a Sunday afternoon!
Also, for anyone one who doesn't have this game, there are many songs included. So, if you would love your children to sing classics such as "Cherry Pie", this is the game for you and your family. And my personal favorite, which apparently is Luke's (at any random time) favorite too...."Shout At The Devil". It's amazing how often this particular song rears it head. Especially when he's singing at the top of his lungs on the way to church. HI Love Bailey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to be English

Bailey picked out "Billy Bob" teeth at the Dollar Store tonight. We got home and she gave the boys a pair and they all had them in their mouth.

I guess this is how they would look if they got the "English" teeth gene!! Glad the have nice teeth. I chuckled! Pretty funny, I know, right??!!!

Farewell to the tooth!

Alex lost his first front tooth the other day. He was so excited. It came out easy enough and quickly went to sleep that night so the Tooth Fairy could visit. As soon as that one came out, the other one became loose also. Within a day or so, it not only was loose, but it was moving over to the middle. Every morning and night, we wiggled it and pulled on it. Some nights it was, well, a total fight to get him to let me move it. One night, my neighbor gave me the idea of playing "tug-o-war" with a towel in our mouths. At first, he was all ready to go. So, we started tugging. Just as I was about to give it a good jerk, hoping to pop the tooth out, he let go. He looked at me and said, "are you crazy? What are you trying to do, pull my tooth out?" How smart is this kid? Me and Kev had a good laugh. Needless to say, he wouldn't play again with me.

Here's his snaggle tooth in the middle. We kept pulling on it and pulling on it trying to get it to come out. And I mean...I was pulling on it. It was a fight! Wednesday was picture day. "D" day. It was coming out. I didn't want his 1st grade picture to be of him with a tooth right in the middle. I even asked him how he was going to smile and he stuck it out over his lip and said, "like this". NICE!! So after a lot of pleading and promises of money and a trip to the Dollar Store, he finally let me wiggle it once. So, I yanked...nothing. He wasn't going to let me go back in until Kevin told Bailey to get his pliers. He was ready for me to try one more time. I am pulling away and he's yelling, "just stop, I want to go to school". I finally gave it one more good pull and it popped out. He was still yelling at me, and as soon as I told him it was out, he couldn't believe it. He said it didn't even hurt. That little turd. But, the snaggle tooth is finally out and he is such a handsome boy! I will post a picture of him without his teeth. (Wouldn't you know, I finally get 5 minutes to do a post and that's the one picture I don't have!) Anyway, the Tooth Fairy again left him some money. (PS..I asked Alex if he wanted the Tooth Fairy to leave his tooth and he said, "no, she can just take it and leave the money." Good to know where his priorities are!!) So, tonight we made it to the Dollar Store and he spent all of his tooth money...but he's in heaven with his new toys!

Building for FHE

On Monday, we met Kevin's parents for dinner at Chili's, then we invited them back to our house to help the kids build birdhouses. We got these little birdhouse kits from Home Depot. The kids have been begging to do them for a couple of weeks, so I thought tonight would be a great night to do it. The kids had a great time. Nobody hurt their fingers! It was good all around. Kevin's parents were pleased to be able to come over and watch the kids and help with their building. We were glad to have them here with us!
Alex building - he did his with just a little help from daddy and papa.
Bailey building...protective eyewear and all!
Luke building. We had to really watch him with the hammer!

Back at the Barn...

We had a big week last week in the Turner household! We have been potty-training Luke for about the last 3 weeks and he has been doing really well..except when it comes to pooping in the potty. So, I asked him what he wanted to do, if he pooped in the potty. He said he wanted to ride the horsies. So, we were finally able to convince him to go...me and the boys went to Thanksgiving Point and they got to ride the horsies. We went Friday after school and there was nobody there. It was great. The boys didn't have to wait for anything. They had a great time and so did I! (The bad thing is...we haven't been able to get Luke to poop on the potty since! We are still working on it!)
This is one of my favorite pictures! They were looking at the rabbits.
The boys on the "fake" sheep
Alex on his big horse
Luke on his big horse...the big moment!

It's not working!

So I was ready to do a fantastic blog tonight; to catch up on all the super-cool stuff we have been doing, but for whatever reason....I can't post any picts. So, I'll have to try again tomorrow. It's not as much fun without the pictures! Check back tomorrow to see what we've been up to!

The Great Egg Drop

Bailey came home with an assignment. Create a carrier for an egg, that if dropped from a 2-story window the egg would not break. So, I gladly turned this one over to Kevin and he and Bailey got right to work. Kevin cut out 2 pieces of foam and Bailey helped him tape it together. They left a little slit at the top to get the egg into. After a lot of tape, Bailey wanted a parachute attached. So, with a little bit of yarn, and a plastic shopping bag...whalla...a parachute. Now the test. The top picture is Kevin getting ready to launch it out of the 2nd story window. The middle one is the landing, and the bottom...did it break?? NO WAY! Not with dad's expertise on how to make a great egg holder! She was so excited to get the egg out and see that it didn't break. She reported her success to her teacher the next morning. She did a great job on this project. She had a lot of fun planning the project with dad and then building it. Way to go Ba! She also named her egg holder... appropriately..."THE SURVIVOR"!!
